Thailand hotels — where to stay
Thailand ranks in the popular beach tourism destinations and according to the growing flow of tourists it is not going to pass its positions. There are different way to spend a holiday in the country but all tourists can be conditionally divided into three main categories. The first are package tourists i.e. those who buy tours from an agency. Ready flights + hotel option are most often chosen for the first acquaintance with Thailand. The second group are independent travelers: they have already visited some places of the country, liked them and now want to discover something new, they prefer active pastime. Numerous backpackers also belong to this category of tourists: they are freedom-loving tourists, unpretentious to accommodation; they will prefer a guesthouse or bungalow to an “all-inclusive” hotel. Khao San road in Bangkok is one of the favourite places for an overnight stay among backpackers (budget B in D&D Inn).
And finally, the last point belongs to the lucky ones who have an opportunity for a distant work and living on a tropical island. They often come with the whole family for a long period and rent a house. Property on the Islands of Ko Pha Ngan and Ko Samui is in special demand.
What to do and what to see
There are lots of tour options in Thailand. Do not ignore the north of the country. Its capital is the city of Chiang Mai. The boarders of the historic center of a square shape are marked by a fortified wall within which there is a huge number of Buddhist temples. In Chiang Mai there is a good choice of cheap guesthouses and apartments for a long stay (Stay With Me Guest House, Smile House Boutique). Generally the northern region offers a holiday with the prefix "eco": the national parks of Mae Surin, Doi Suthep-Pui, Doi Inthanon, cascading waterfalls, mountain scenery, rafting, caves. Thermal springs of Sankampang saturate the body with healing power of the nature. After a day of spa treatments you will feel so relaxed that it is better to stay overnight in cozy rooms of the Sankampang Hot Spring Hill hotel. Extend your pleasure!
In Bangkok entertainments await you everywhere. Kids will love the aquarium Siam Ocean World in the mall Siam Paragon. For shopping you need not go far because this district is geared right for the purpose. The cruises along the Chao Phraya River are especially good closer to the sunset. If you are going to a day trip to the market Damnoen Saduak you will have to wake up early in the morning. Monuments of cultural heritage deserve everybody’s attention: the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), Wat Pho Temple (Wat Pho), Wat Arun (Wat Arun), Loha Prasat. With the coming of darkness you should say a taxi driver just a single address: Khao San Road. You can sleep well near the epicenter of a vibrant nightlife in hostels on the nearby streets (Suneta Hostel Khaosan, Baan Bovorn). Bangkok is known for its skyscraper hotels: Baiyoke Sky Hotel, Banyan Tree Bangkok, Lebua at State Tower.
Where to stay
How many beaches in Thailand so many opinions that’s why comparisons are odorous. Every tourist, coming out of the boat to the white sand, immediately understands if he will stay here a half-day or a week. Maya Bay beach on the island of Ko Phi Phi Lee cannot be called the best but many travelers tend to swim there. It is this piece of paradise with clear turquoise water that became the scene of the movie "The Beach”. The nearest hotels are located on the nearby island of Ko Phi Phi Don where from all bars you can hear the rhythm of reggae: Paradise Resort Phi Phi, Paradise Pearl Bungalow – Long Beach.
The beast beaches on the Phuket Island are the following: Karon (Horizon Karon Beach Resort & Spa, Karon Sea Sands Resort & Spa) and secluded Nai Harn (Phu NaNa Boutique Hotel). A clean and quiet beach is Surin (Manathai Resort Phuket). If you are not confused by crowds of tourists but you come here right for the purpose then choose the hotels of the central beach – Patong (Apsara Residence, Holiday Inn Express Phuket Patong Beach Central).
The resort town of Pattaya has not long been collecting rave reviews for its coast. All the laurels belong to the beaches of the Krabi province (Centara Anda Dhevi Resort and Spa, Anawin Bungalows) and islands of Ko Chang (Sea Flower Resort, KB Resort) and Ko Kood (Neverland Beach Resort, Dusita Resort).
