Munich hotels - where to stay
Munich will meet you as a welcoming host meets the most important guests. Long tables at Bavarian restaurants offer a place for anyone who loves excellent German beer, rich meat dishes, new friends, fun conversation accompanied by the orchestra. You will quickly get on the inside of this bright feast of life. Even a business trip to Munich seems an easy enjoyable holiday.
What to do and what to see
On the main square of Marienplatz there is a beautiful building in neo-Gothic style – New Town Hall. You can admire the city quarters and make amazing panoramic pictures from its tower. Nearby you can see the graceful silhouette of the Frauenkirche. Munich city center is a large pedestrian zone with narrow streets: it is nice just to wander around, look into the shop windows, and sit in a cafe.
While women are passionate about shopping, men can enjoy fresh foamy drinks from the oldest German breweries. Hofbrauhaus Restaurant has gained historical fame and is popular with tourists not less than any attraction of the city. The first floor is occupied by a noisy beer hall, on the second floor the best pork knuckle, potato dumplings with mushrooms, and, of course, a variety of grilled sausages and much more is served. Gastronomic abundance is also found in the central market of Viktualienmarkt.
In addition to fine art galleries, the Old and New Pinakothek, visit the BMW Welt complex with a car museum and sign up for a test-drive of new models.
Where to stay
If you go to the famous Oktoberfest it is more convenient to live near the Theresienwiese. Pay your attention to the hotels near the train station in Munich, for example: Winters Hotel Munchen Am Hauptbahnhof, Euro Youth Hotel Munich, Wombats City Hostel. Keep in mind that the road from the train station to the venue of the festival passes along the quarters of Turkish and Arab immigrants, but it will not cause any problems if you find the best hotel in this area – the atmosphere is pretty quiet here (Atlas City Hotel, Mercure Munchen City Center). The Old Town district is especially popular: there are many hotels of different categories, the average room will cost about 140 Euros/day.
